I got a private msg from a member, who shall remain nameless (Jan aka Redhead) , asking me if I would put a submission for you all, of how this site was started, as this would help new members who join. Are you all sitting comfortably, then I will begin.

Once upon a time, which to me seems just like yesterday, but was in fact the early part of 2005, My dear wife Lynda , who I might add, was the centre of my life, got , to put it bluntly, got so annoyed with The Cancer Council WA. Why?, you are asking yourselves. Well to put it in a nutshell, she tried to contact a person who's partner had the same cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, and wanted to pass on information which, she hoped, may have been beneficial to them, as Lynda had heaps of problems re food to eat, digestion , vomiting etc etc.

Well Lynda wrote to the person concerned explaining how different things helped and how others did not, all quite banal questions and answers. What happened then was, that the CCWA's nurse rejected Lynda's reply and would not post it! (you had to go through a moderator, who was meant be a nurse, we later found out it was not alwways the case, hmmmm), well that was like a "Red Rag to a Bull" with Lynda, who would not take no for an answer.

Lynda to put it bluntly was so "p***ed off"! (the only way I can say it peoples) that she decided that if this was the way that an organisation, with government funding, public donations and fund raising was going to react to a simple question and answer correspondence between two people suffering the same type of cancer illness in a completely negative way, then she was going to change things. Lynda contacted her daughter Amanda to set up a site, which would be non judgemental on comments, ideas, theories, alternative treatments, etc etc, Lynda wanted a site which would say it how it is for the individual , who comes looking for help. guidance, alternative treatments (which are poo pooed by CCWA). And dare I say it folks, just this week scientists have found certain juices can slow cancers down and in some cases, put into remission, ok so it is early days peoples, but hey!! don't we all need to check out all possible avenues of potential cures, after all we all want to live for ever, or at least into old age.

So peoples, here we are at this site. It is free, non profit, non judgemental. If you have an alternative remedy that you have tried, or has helped you as an individual pass it on to others here, it may or may not help, but hey you/they have tried it.

And also you may have found that a medical procedure/treatment has worked for you, but in turn may not work for others, and the sooner the Medical Profession realise that we are ALL INDIVIDUALS, who respond to different treatments in different ways, and also accept Cancer or reject Cancer in different ways.

This sounds awful I know but once Cancer has become terminal Oncologists (maybe not all, but the one's I have met) seem to go into a wringing of hands and shaking of head routine, (are they taught this at Medical School for Christs sake!!!) or any other being willing to listen, be yourself Oncologists, ok you are generally the bearers of bad news, but please please please, be yourself and genuine, you look so pathetic being a (buzz word here) generic Oncologist. Apologies to all, I went off at a tangent , but hey! it had to be said, ok ?.

Lynda, my dear wife who set this site up, wants it run, as it is now, by you people, the members who make it possible for others to come here , to read, look, learn, give knowledge, exchange knowledge, to hopefully find help and solace, and maybe tell us you have beaten this shitty thing called Cancer.
